North Central Railway earned revenue of Rs. 265.37 crore from scrap sales
Record purchase through GeM portal by North Central Railway
Prayagraj Bureau: Under the Zero Scrap Mission of Ministry of Railways, in North Central Railway, a total of Rs. 265.37 crore has been realized through scrap sale. The target set by the Railway Board was Rs. 200 crore and the revenue earned from scrap sales is 32. 68 per cent above the target.
The revenue was earned by selling unused scrap items lying in all divisions and workshops of North Central Railway, General Stores Depot, Jhansi played a special role in this campaign where Deputy Chief Materials Manager/Systems/Jhansi has set a new record by selling scrap worth nearly Rs. 125.91 crore.
During the operation, North Central Railway disposed about 23,656 MT of railway track iron scrap, 21,240 MT of other working area iron scrap and 463 MT of non-ferrous scrap along with 401 freight wagons, 34 passenger coaches and 04 locomotive through e-auction.
The campaign has also helped in keeping the workplace and environment clean. All divisions, workshops and other institutions of North Central Railway are committed and continuously striving to make the railway scrap free.
North Central Railway has made remarkable progress in procurement of goods and services through GeM. During the entire financial year from 01.04.2022 to 31.03.2023, North Central Railway procured a total of Rs. 275.50 crore through GeM, of which Rs. 98.47 crore was of goods contracts and Rs. 177.03 crore was of service contracts.
The corresponding figures for the financial year 2021-2022 were Rs 58.41 crore of goods contracts and Rs 109.77 crore of service contracts and total procurement was Rs 168.18 crore. Procurement through GeM has increased by 63.81% in comparison to the last financial year.
