Railway Minister Reviews Operations, Directs Operation of Special Trains Based on Public Needs
Due to the temporary closure of Jammu and Chandigarh airports, several passengers were stranded. To assist them, #IndianRailways arranged special trains to ensure their safe and timely travel.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the arrangements made for train operations. After assessing the entire situation, he instructed railway officials to coordinate with various government agencies and ensure the operation of trains to assist people, especially in border regions. He emphasized that, along with regular trains, special trains should also be operated based on public need.
Following the Minister’s directives, on May 9, 2025, four special trains were operated from Jammu and Udhampur:
Train No. 04612:
- Departure: Jammu station at 10:45 AM
- Coach Composition: 12 unreserved and 12 reserved class coaches
Vande Bharat Express:
- Departure: Udhampur at 12:45 PM
- Route: Udhampur – Jammu – Pathankot – New Delhi
- Total Coaches: 20
Special Train with 22 LHB Coaches:
- Departure: Jammu station at 7:00 PM
Another Vande Bharat Special Train:
- Departure: Jammu at 3:30 PM,
- Arrival: New Delhi in the evening
These special train operations reflect Indian Railways’ commitment to addressing emergent public transportation needs efficiently.
