Empanelment of private hospitals should be centralized at Railway Board level

Subject: Regarding utilities of UMID cards at private empanelled hospitals in other Zonal Railways areas.

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw ji,
Hon’ble Minister for Railways

Respected sir,

With due regards I wish to kindly consider my suggestions about the utility of UMID cards.

I suffered a lot at Max hospital saket New Delhi for follow-up treatment of my wife who was treated through Northern Railway while I belong to North Eastern Railway.

Another case, one of my batchmates suffered a brain stroke and that time he was with his daughter at Pune while his card was issued by N. E. Railway and no Empanelled hospital and even Pune Railway Hospital entertained him for a referral.

In this regard I suggest as under for your due consideration for better utility of UMID card.

1. Empanelment of private hospitals by Zonal Railways and Production Units should be discontinued and Empanelment should be done by Railway Board level as a whole and integrated on all Indian Railways basis as in CGHS.

2. All #CGHS empanelled hospitals should be considered for Empanelment by the Railway Board only not by Zonal Railways and all #UMID cards should be recognised by Indian Railways not by Zonal Railways like CGHS cards irrespective of departments.

3. Only “Indian Railway” should be printed on the Card instead of Name of Zonal Railway.

4. All Railway Hospitals should act as wellness centers to refer the patient as per Railway Board norms.

5. In emergencies all empanelled hospitals should give treatment as per present Railway Board guidelines at par.

All above suggestions will facilitate all working and retired railway employees and their families living at home town or with their children.

Most family members are not aware of the Railway Medical treatment systems and due to it mostly couldn’t get treatment timely or even not.

Sir, since you have taken pain for great reform in treatment systems in Railway, that’s why I approached you sir as I have experienced in railway hospitals during 33 years of my service.

I find that very measurable condition in Rly treatment systems while other central government employees are getting treatment anywhere in India even though they can get a referral online through CGHS portal.

If you have found it suitable, kindly do something through the Rly Board for poor servants / employees.

These reforms are suggested based on the CGHS system.

Thanks
With Regards
