NRMU observing ‘Chetavani Diwas’ against government’s monetization policy

Mumbai: On the call of AIRF, workers of Indian Railways decide to protest against the government’s monetization observing 8th September 2021 as “Chetavani Diwas”.

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the All India Railway Men’s Federation (AIRF) was held on 3rd September 2021 against the sale of railway assets by the Government of India, in which all the General Secretaries of the affiliated unions of AIRF participated and expressed their strong opposition against the monetization policy of Central Government.

Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitaraman has unveiled a National Monetization Pipeline (NMP) Policy whereby it is decided to sell out valuable assets of railways worth Rs.1,52,498 crores including 400 Railway Stations, 90 passenger trains, 1400 KMs of Tracks,  673 KMs of DFC Corridor, 741 km of Konkan railway track, 256 Goods Sheds, 15 railway stadiums, Railway Residential colonies, 4 Hill railways and other tangible assets in the name of monetization.

While observing the “Chetavani Diwas” National Railway Mazdoor Union (NRMU CR/KR) an affiliate of AIRF will hold protest gate meetings, dharnas and demonstrations at all work units across Central Railway & Konkan Railway on 8.9.21 during lunch hour strictly adhering to the COVID protocol and will express the resentment of the staff against the arbitrary decision of Government which will have retrograde effect to the railway staff.

Com. Venu P. Nair, General Secretary, National Railway Mazdoor Union appeals all workers and the commuters to extend their solidarity and support to the mass resistance movement of railway staff against the policy of monetization of railway assets as it surely turns out neither in the interest of common man nor in the interest of workers of the country.
