RAILWAYMEN ON WARPATH FOR PLB

Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) is an achievement gained through glorious struggle, sacrifice and martyrdom of our predecessors associated with NRMU (CR/KR) & AIRF. This was a prominent issue included in the charter of demand placed during the historic Railway Workers Strike in 1974 that prompted the government to approve in 1979. Since then, this variable PLB calculated on the productivity is given to Railway staff every year during festival season of Deepawali, said in a press release by Venu P. Nair, the General Secretary of NRMU/CR-KR.

The unfortunate callousness shown by the Railway Munistry to declare the Bonus to Railwaymen for the period of 2019-20 have created strong resentment among the staff.

NRMU (CR/KR) & AIRF have promptly taken up this issue for detailed deliberation in the Standing Committee Meeting of AIRF held on 16.10 2020.

The best efforts of railway staff that has contributed to the excellent performance of Railways in terms of revenue generation for the year 2019-20 was analysed in the meeting and their continued efforts even during this COVID19 crisis to exceed the targeted freight loading and revenue as certified by the MR Piyush Goyal was also reviewed.

After detailed discussions, the  Standing Committee of AIRF unanimously decided to give a call for observance of All India Bonus Demand Day on 20.10.2020 whereby the railwaymen across the country will be explained the contemporary situation and the lethargic attitude of Railway Ministry to address the issue.

It is also decided that if a positive decision is not taken by the concerned by 21.10.2020, the whole railway staff of the country will stop the movement of trains for two hours on 22.10.2020 as an indication of future struggle movement to achieve the non compromisable right of railway men.

Accordingly adhering to the call of AIRF, National Railway Mazdoor Union have also decided to comply with the decision of AIRF and will follow suite it’s instructions as mentioned above.

The Railway Ministry and Management will be responsible for the breakage of cordial industrial relations and it’s consequential effects of the movement of workers emerged from the unethical and unjustified stand of administration to address the issue within the time frame.
