Indian Railways make Aadhaar authentication compulsory for Online Reservation of Railway tickets

Mumbai: Indian Railways have made #Aadhaar authentication compulsory for Online Reservation of Railway tickets through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation(IRCTC) website and mobile app for first 15 minutes of booking.

The Aadhaar authentication will only apply during the first 15 minutes of opening of General reservation.

There shall however be no change in the timings of restriction of 10 minutes of opening general tickets during which authorised ticketing agents of Indian Railways shall not be allowed to book opening day reserved tickets.

There shall also be no change in booking of general tickets through computerized PRS counters.

The rule shall come into force with effect from 01.10.2025.

“The decision has been taken with a view to curb misuse of the online ticketing system by unscrupulous elements and ensure that the benefits of online ticketing system reach the common end user.”, said by the Central Railway in a press release.

Central Railway urges passengers to note the change in ticketing rules and plan their ticketing activities accordingly.
