Demand for operation of direct train connectivity between Kanyakumari to North Eastern Region
(via Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Villupuram and Chennai Egmore)
Bogidole, Sibsagar (Assam): Currently, there is no direct train connectivity between the Central and Southern districts of Tamil Nadu (except Chennai) and the Northeastern region, including Tripura and Mizoram. To promote national integration and enhance connectivity between India’s southernmost and north eastern most railway stations, direct train connectivity is essential. This is a long pending demand of Northeast Tamilar Association.
Association writes, “Kanyakumari, the southernmost railway station in India, and Sabroom, New Tinsukia, Silghat Town and Sairang, the newest railway stations in the Northeast, offer a unique opportunity to connect the two extreme ends of the nation. This train service would foster cultural exchange, economic growth, and national unity.
The Prime Minister recently visited Kanyakumari and meditated at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. This historical event has significantly increased the popularity of Kanyakumari. Tamil Nadu, known as the Land of Temples, boasts 33,000 ancient temples, many of which are among the largest Hindu temples in India.
Request for extension of train no. 22611/22612 Chennai Central – New Jalpaiguri Express to Sabroom and Kanyakumari
Association demands that the extension of train no. 22611/22612 Chennai Central – New Jalpaiguri Express to Sabroom at one end and Kanyakumari at the other, via Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, and Chennai Egmore, utilizing the fully doubled and electrified railway network in Tamil Nadu. Association suggest that maintenance be conducted at Agartala Railway Station, with the empty rake moved between Sabroom and Agartala.
Request for Introduction of a weekly Train Service from Kanniyakumari to Sairang
Association requests the introduction of a weekly train service from Kanyakumari to Sairang. The proposed route would pass through Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, and Chennai, utilizing the fully doubled and electrified railway network in Tamil Nadu.
Extension of the 15930/15929 New Tinsukia-Tambaram Express & 15630/15629 Silghat Town-Tambaram Express to Kanyakumari via Tambaram, Villupuram, Tiruchchirappalli, and Madurai for improved connectivity between the Northeast and Tamil Nadu
These extensions will greatly enhance connectivity for passengers traveling between Northeast India and southern Tamil Nadu. With the recent completion of the Chennai – Villupuram – Tiruchirapalli – Madurai – Tirunelveli – Kanyakumari railway line doubling project and the near-completion of terminal facilities at Nagercoil and Kanyakumari, this is an opportune moment to implement these improvements.
Association president Dr. Aaron Gnanadas request to the Minister for Railways for immediate attention to this matter and look forward to a positive response.
