Well, well, well, look who finally decided to wake up! The #Minister has graciously acknowledged the existence of the #passenger-segment. Bravo, minister sahab! It’s a duty that no #government can afford to ignore, unless they want to face a public uproar.
But alas, our dear minister has conveniently left out the small detail of actually providing more general coaches (#GS). It seems like the number of trains has magically decreased, especially in the north, and to add #insult to #injury, the number of #general-coaches has also shrunk. Talk about a double whammy! All this does is hit hard on the #poor-souls who rely solely on the #railways for their long-distance travel. Oh, how they must be delighted by this wonderful display of rail bhawan’s incompetence!
In the recently concluded #IREE, I had the pleasure of conversing with some foreign delegates who were absolutely tickled by India’s brilliant idea of introducing the #VandeBharat on long-distance routes. It seems that while the rest of the world may not find this financially feasible, we #Indians have found a way to defy all logic and make it work! Pure genius!
Even in the above article, notice one statement, “He mentioned that Vande Bharat exhibits an acceleration and deceleration rate four times superior to other #mail and #express trains, leading to significant time savings and a higher average speed. Acknowledging the time it will take to implement Vande Bharat on all routes, the railways is actively devising an interim solution to enhance acceleration and deceleration by doubling the current standard.”
This is factually incorrect. I am not sure if Minister actually believed in this. It is this #misplaced thought which jacks-up the #cost of each #Train by 65-70 crore rupees. #Railwhispers once published a detailed comparison on cost of 16 coach #VandeBharat vs #LHB solution giving it 03 locomotives in push-pull – one on one end and multi on the other.
Wow, this is just pure genius! The Minister’s statement is so astoundingly wrong that I can’t help but question if they truly believe what they’re saying. It’s almost #comical how this misguided notion manages to inflate the price of each train by a whopping 65-70 crore rupees. I mean, seriously, who needs accurate facts when you can just make stuff up, right?
#Railwhispers even did us all a favour by providing a detailed breakdown comparing the costs of a 16 coach Vande Bharat with the much more sensible LHB solution, which includes the brilliant idea of having three #locomotives which gives higher #horsepower than Vande Bharat and higher #tractive effort. And yes, Vande Bharat magic is also because of the braking system which is an incremental input to existing fleet.
Only flipside, no #mega-tenders needed.
“Modi-Sense Vs Sudheer-Sense – Your Pick Mr Rail Minister! Part-2” – It is time that Hon’ble Minister calls for a presentation on facts we presented on costing. Maybe then he’ll finally grasp the basic concept and realize that there’s a way to increase capacity while spending less. Perhaps this will give him a chance to break free from the current trend of wasting money for limited results – which is #SudheerSense.
This #article revealed the limited knowledge of the Minister’s advisors. It is unfortunate that the Minister, who was once the #CEO of a multinational locomotive manufacturing company, should have been more difficult to deceive. However, his #advisors were able to successfully #mislead him into believing that #Newton’s laws of motion work differently for #IndianRailways.
What should #IndianRailways do?
Immediately start #manufacturing more general coaches, do back to basics study to introduce and schedule short distance trains to facilitate daily short distance labour movement.
Movement from Gujarat, Maharashtra, even from the south to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh during this period has always been very high. It did not happen in 2023. The lack of readiness is completely unacceptable. Failing to produce general-coaches is another offense that reflects poorly not only on the Railway Board’s #traffic-directorates but also Zonal Operating and Commercial departmental and Zonal heads. This is also a major failure on the part of political-leaders. Improving the lives of those benefiting from #antyoday programs would create positive sentiment and benefit the true supporters of this government.
