SER earn Rs.100 crores through disposal of scrap
Kolkata: Making South Eastern Railway a “Zero Scrap” Railway is one of the mission areas of this Zone. Necessary steps are being taken by all the Divisions and Workshops to realise value from sale of unserviceable materials lying along tracks, sheds, workshops, coaching depots etc.
As a result of continuous efforts to accomplish the mission of “Zero Scrap” Zone, South Eastern Railway becomes the first Zonal Railway to achieve Rs. 100 crore scrap sale till 20th June, 2022 in the first quarter current financial year 2022-23.
SER has also earned the total revenue of Rs. 110.52 crore from scrap sale in the first quarter of current fiscal which is 194.34% higher than the corresponding period of last fiscal and also highest amongst all the Zones of Indian Railways.
This has been achieved by the sale of scrap rails, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, condemned coaches, wagons, loco and track machines, abandoned quarters and cabins etc.
The scrap lots have been sold on competitive and transparent e-auction platform. Sale of scrap materials helps in revenue generation and also in maintaining better upkeep of the railway premises.
