SER celebrates international women’s day

Kolkata: International Women’s Day was observed by South Eastern Railway at its Headquarters, Garden Reach and four Divisions viz. Kharagpur, Chakradharpur, Adra and Ranchi with great enthusiasm today on 08.03.2022.

Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway was the Chief Guest at the programme held at SER Headquarters, Garden Reach. Atulya Sinha, Additional General Manager, Principal Head of the Departments and women employees of different departments were present on the occasion.

Dr Mahua Verma, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, S E Railway welcomed the distinguished guests at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, General Manager, Ms. Joshi said that SER has been taking different initiatives for empowerment of women. She said that women employees of South Eastern Railway have shown outstanding performance in every field specially in safety category. She also stated about the different initiatives taken by S E Railway for the benefit of its women employees.

On the occasion, 52 women employees of S E Railway were felicitated by General Manager for their outstanding services. General Manager also handed over Tabs to 10 Lady RPF Sub-Inspectors who are attached with “My Saheli” Team for the safety, security and assistance of lady passengers for sharing real time data of travelling lady passengers.

A Ladies Tiffin Room was also inaugurated at New Administrative Building of SER Headquarters by General Manager today.

As a part of celebration of International Women’s Day, a special initiative was taken to run a number of all women’s train over SER’s jurisdiction today.

Today’s 08689 Ranchi-Tori MEMU Passenger was run with all ladies crew. Loco Pilot, Guard and other staff in the train were all women. A Goods Train was also run from Kharagpur to Andul with all women crew today.

In Chakradharpur Division, 13288 Rajendranagar-Durg South Bihar Express was fully manned by lady staff viz. Train Ticket Examiner, Loco Pilot, Guard, Security Personnel etc.

Moreover, to observe the day in a befitting manner,  Ranchi, Adityapur and Hijli Stations of SER were completely managed by lady staff today i.e. Station Master, Ticket Booking Staff, RPF etc. were all women.

Seminar and talk show on women empowerment and gender equality were also held at different places in SER’s jurisdiction today.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Telemedicine Service for Women staff of Adra Division has been inaugurated. This Telemedicine facility through an APP or Telephone Call will be made available to all women staff of Adra Division.

International Women’s Day was also celebrated by South Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (SERWWO).
