RECORD EARNING BY SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY THROUGH SCRAP SALE IN 2019-20

Kolkata: Making South Eastern Railway a “Scrap Free Railway” has been one of the mission areas of the year 2019-20.

With the view to realise value from sale of unserviceable materials lying along tracks, workshops etc. in the fiscal 2019-20, numerous inspections were carried out and co-ordination meetings were conducted by Senior Railway Officers to identify the dispose all such item of scrap.

Due to continuous monitoring, South Eastern Railway has achieved exemplary Scrap Sale Record of Rs. 295.67 crores.

This is the highest in the last 06 years and has exceeded the Railway Board’s target of Rs. 245 crores by Rs. 50.67 crores.

The scrap lots have been sold on competitive and transparent e-auction platform.

Total 50609 metric tonne of scrap rails, 537 condemned wagons, 189 condemned coaches, 07 condemned diesel locos, 05 electric locos, 1590 metric tonne of non-ferrous scrap, 19743 metric tonne of ferrous scrap released from workshops and maintenance units were disposed in 2019-20.
