GM/CR Conducts Safety Inspection of Amla–Nagpur Section on Nagpur Division

Mumbai : Vivek Kumar Gupta, General Manager, Central Railway, conducted a comprehensive safety inspection of the Amla–Nagpur section of Nagpur Division on 24.12.2025 to review operational efficiency, safety standards and the progress of ongoing developmental works.

Inspection at Amla: During the inspection at Amla, the General Manager examined key operational and passenger-related facilities, including-

  • Station building, circulating areas and passenger amenities
  • Waiting halls, VIP Room, Refreshment Rooms
  • Booking offices and PRS counters
  • Crew Lobby and Crew Running Rooms
  • RPF Post and CCTV surveillance arrangements
  • Panel Room and Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) installations
  • Accident Relief Train and Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ART/ARME)
  • Railway Colony and Sub-Divisional Hospital
  • Points and crossings, including inspection of Turnout No. 142B and 143A

At Amla the General Manager Interacted with Train Manager and Loco Pilots at the crew booking lobby and also Interacted and reviewed the working of the Ticket checking staff. He took review of the initiatives taken by the RPF and the innovative methods used for detection of the crimes and protection.

Inspection of LHS on the Jaulkhera-Multai section: This was followed by inspection of Limited Height Subway (LHS) no. 264 at Kms 889.45 on the Jaulkhera-Multai section.

Inspection at Multai: At Multai, the General Manager inspected the Station circulating area, Booking office, Electronic Interlocking Relay room & Power room with a presentation by the Signal & Telecommunication department.

Inspection of the AC waiting room and Bhairavi Art display at the One Station One Product (OSOP) stall were also carried out along with inspection of Goods Shed, Labour room and display of commodities loaded over Nagpur Division.

Inspection of Bridge on the Multai-Chichonda section: This was followed by inspection of Bridge No. 912/1 (Wardha Bridge), between Multai and Chichonda, to review structural integrity and safety aspects of the bridge.

Inspection at Pandhurna: At Pandhurna, station circulating area and stalls of all departments were inspected, showcasing safety initiatives, technological advancements and best practices adopted across the division.

The General Manager inspected the TRD Depot and Traction Sub-Station (TSS), where the following safety and technological demonstrations were conducted-

  • Demonstration of High Voltage Detector for ensuring safety of Tower Wagon operations
  • Demonstration of various monitoring mechanisms adopted for enhancing safety in the division
  • Demonstration of AI-based OHE monitoring system for measuring wire height and stagger to improve reliability and safety

The General Manager also released a booklet on 2×25 kV traction system.

This was followed by a window trailing inspection between Pandurna and Katol.

The General Manager also carried out inspection of Curve no 34, inspection of Level Crossing gate no 282A9Spl class) at Kms 980/04-06 and inspection of Unit no 17 on the Kalambha-Katol section followed by a Speed run test between Katol & Kalmeshwar ( from Kms 981.73 to 1018.58)

Nagpur: At Nagpur, the General Manager inspected the Divisional Hospital. Shri Gupta also interacted with Branch Officers, reiterating the Minister of Railways’ emphasis on intensified focus on Safety, Maintenance, Quality and Training (#SMQT). He also held discussions with Union representatives and interacted with the press, satisfactorily addressing their queries.

Interaction with Stakeholders and Staff: During the inspection, Vivek Kumar Gupta reviewed cleanliness standards, punctuality of train operations and progress of ongoing maintenance and infrastructure upgradation works along the section.

Shri Gupta interacted with freight customers to discuss measures for enhancing loading potential and boosting non-fare revenue.

The General Manager also interacted with officers and staff of various departments and advised them to remain vigilant and committed to the highest standards of safety and reliability emphasizing strong inter-departmental coordination and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Interaction with Public representatives: The General Manager met Vivek Sahu (Bunty Sahu) Member of Parliament, Chhindwada and Nilesh Uikey, Hon’ble MLA, Pandurna at Pandurna station.

At Amla station, the General Manager met Yogesh Pandagre, MLA, Amla and Chandrashekhar Deshmukh, MLA, Multai. The General Manager also met Deepak Saluja, who came as representative of Durgadas Uikey, Minister of State, Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

The General Manager interacted with public representatives at these locations and discussed their issues.

Throughout the inspection, the General Manager engaged with ground-level staff, underscoring the importance of safe train operations, infrastructure reliability and passenger-centric services. He gave thoughtful insights to the working staff for overall improvement of the image of Indian Railways and passenger convenience.

Vinayak Garg, Divisional Railway Manager, Nagpur Division, along with Principal Heads of Departments and senior officers from Headquarters and Nagpur Division, accompanied the General Manager during the inspection.
