Railway should consider the long-standing grievances of the travelling public of Kerala

Southern Railways’ Zonal Railway User’s Consultative Committee (#ZRUCC) meeting scheduled on Monday, 22.12.2025 at headquarters Chennai. As Kanyakumari District Railway Users’ Association (#KKDRUA) is the part of Thiruvananthapuram Division, placed their demands before the #SouthernRailway authorities at the #ZRUCC meeting and wants to ensure that early implementation

Very High Priority Demands

  1. Extension of 16347/16348 Mangalore Central–Thiruvananthapuram Express to Kanyakumari/Nagercoil (only 85 km from Thiruvananthapuram Central).
  2. Extension of 16729/16730 Madurai–Punalur Express to Thirunallar (to connect Shani Bhagwan Temple at Thirunallar and other Navagraha Sthalams) and renaming it as “Nava Graha Express”.
  3. Extension of 56309/56310 Thiruvananthapuram North–Nagercoil Passenger to Tirunelveli/Tuticorin via Nagercoil Town, utilising the rake of 16343/16344, to provide direct connectivity between the upcoming Vizhinjam International Container Transhipment Port and Tuticorin Port.
  4. In addition, combining-clubbing 56708/56707 Tirunelveli–Nagercoil/Kanyakumari and 56305/56310 Thiruvananthapuram North–Nagercoil into a single Tirunelveli-Thiruvananthapuram North via Nagercoil Town.

KKDRUA demands to take steps to implement the above demands in the forthcoming railway timetable in January 2026.

Second priority demands

  1. Extension of 17603/17604 Yelahanka – Kacheguda Express to Kanyakumari via Krishnarajapuram, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai and Tirunelveli.
  2. Extension of 12615/12616 New Delhi – Chennai Grand Trunk Express to Kanyakumari via Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai and Tirunelveli.
  3. Extension of 12663/12664 Howrah – Tiruchirapalli Bi-weekly Express to Kanyakumari and converted as daily service. In addition short-termination of existing 12659/12660 Nagercoil – Shalimar weekly Gurudev Express at Thiruvananthapuram and conversion of Thiruvananthapuram–Shalimar service into a daily express.
  4. Increase in frequency of 22657/22658 Tambaram–Nagercoil and 12689/12690 MGR Chennai Central–Nagercoil to daily.
