CRS/NE Circle Concludes Inspection of Newly-Doubled Banda–Dingwahi–Khurhand Rail Section

Prayagraj: As part of North Central Railway’s continuous efforts to enhance passenger amenities and improve operational efficiency through expansion of core infrastructure, Commissioner of Railway Safety (North Eastern Circle) Pranjeev Saxena conducted important statutory inspection on the second day of his two-day visit. Accompanied by Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Himanshu Goswami and Divisional Railway Manager Aniruddh Kumar, Saxena carried out a detailed inspection of the newly constructed second line on the Khurhand–Dingwahi–Banda rail section.

During the inspection schedule, safety-related examinations were conducted today at Banda Railway Station. The Commissioner thoroughly inspected all newly installed equipment associated with the second line, including the panel, battery room, OFC room and relay room. He also interacted with on-duty staff to assess their technical knowledge and understanding of safety standards. Additionally, the Commissioner and his team meticulously examined all essential documents related to safety and protection systems.

Thereafter, Pranjeev Saxena, along with officials from the Division and Construction Organization, undertook an intensive motor-trolley inspection of the newly constructed down line between Dingwahi and Banda. During this inspection, all installations within the section—including traction systems, signals, level crossing gates, bridges, track, track points, curves and other infrastructure—were thoroughly assessed.

Major and minor bridges falling in the section were also examined in detail. Following the inspection, a successful speed trial was conducted with the speed trial special train. The trial was completed at a maximum speed of 120 kmph on the newly laid track. Upon satisfactory completion of the inspection and subject to approval by the Commissioner of Railway Safety, train operations on this section will commence.

With the completion of this doubled line, Jhansi Division will see a significant rise in train-handling capacity. The double line will enable smooth and uninterrupted movement of trains on this important corridor, saving passengers’ time and improving punctual movement of freight trains.

This will further benefit regional industries by providing faster and more reliable transportation, while also strengthening safety, stability and operational efficiency. The increased line capacity will support the introduction of additional train services in the future and enhance overall timetable adherence.

During the inspection, Divisional Railway Manager Aniruddh Kumar; Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination) Ashutosh Chaurasia; Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Aman Verma; Senior Divisional Signal & Telecom Engineer Narendra Singh; Senior Divisional Operations Manager J. Sanjay Kumar; Senior Divisional Engineer/East Ayush Srivastava; Senior Divisional Safety Officer Girish Kanchan; along with other officers, supervisors and staff of the Construction Department were present.
