The awards showcase the world-class capabilities of India’s young scientists and engineers: Railway Minister
New Delhi: The successful conclusion of Asia’s first Global Hyperloop Competition-2025 was held by the Indian Institute of Technology (#IIT) Madras. Railway Minister #AshwiniVaishnaw participated in the closing ceremony via video conferencing. On this occasion, IIT Madras Director Dr. V. Kamakoti was present at the #RailBhavan and highlighted the objectives of the competition.
The #RailwayMinister addressed the participants and students of the Indian Institute of Technology, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to propel the country towards innovation. This is why we are able to collaborate with educational institutions today. He also mentioned that he had been part of the award-winning team, Avishkar.
The teams that excelled in the competition were awarded prestigious titles, such as the Best Demonstration Team Award, Demonstration of Braking and Traction System, and Best Sub-system (#Mechanical). These awards not only recognize their hard work and innovation but also showcase India’s young scientists and engineers’ world-class abilities. Their achievements will play a crucial role in propelling the country toward a future of #transportation revolution.
Railway Minister Shri Vaishnaw also mentioned that IIT Madras had succeeded in establishing 5G technology, with India leading the world in the fastest 5G rollout. In this context, #IndianRailways and IIT Madras will collaborate to work on a Vertical Takeoff and Landing Vehicle, which will be funded by Indian Railways. This will be a significant step in promoting modern and innovative changes in travel modes.
During the event, several dignitaries, including Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar, were also present. India’s first Hyperloop test track is 422 meters long and is located at IIT Madras, Chennai. This partnership between Indian Railways and the education sector strengthens India’s position in global railway innovation and advanced travel technologies.
