Highest number of freight trains run in DFC during Jan 2025
Prayagraj: The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation India Ltd. (#DFCCIL) has reached a significant milestone in freight train operations during January 2025, marking a new benchmark in India’s logistics and transportation efficiency.
- Total Trains Operated: 391 trains per day (average) on DFC tracks
- Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC): 209 trains per day (average)
- Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC): 182 trains per day (average)
This achievement reflects the increasing reliance on #DFC for seamless & efficient freight transportation, reinforcing its role as a backbone for industrial and economic growth.
Highest MUNU Rake handling at New Unchdih station which is connected to Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (#MUNPL).
#MUNPL was connected to #DFCCIL at Station New Unchdih on 09.12.2023. In January 2025, 175 MUNU rakes were handled, the highest ever recorded, reflecting the growing efficiency of DFCCIL in meeting industrial demands.
DFC’s shouldering seamless Mahakumbh Mela Train Operations
The Dedicated Freight Corridor (#DFC) is playing a crucial role in supporting the Prayagraj Division during the Mahakumbh Mela, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of both passenger and freight trains. With millions of pilgrims expected to visit Prayagraj for this grand religious gathering, the seamless operation of train services becomes a top priority.
Successfully diverted 100% freight traffic from East Central Railway and North Central Railway to EDFC, has provided much-needed relief to the adjacent zonal railways and enabling the smooth operation of Mahakumbh Special trains on the saturated routes.
Only due to diversion, an average of 155 freight trains running daily on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (#EDFC) during the #SNAN Days commencing from 11 Jan 25 to 31 Jan 25. The EDFC is playing a vital role in decongesting the Prayagraj Division of North Central Railway (#NCR). This strategic shift of freight traffic is not only easing congestion but also enabling the smooth operation of Mahakumbh Mela Special trains, ensuring devotees can travel conveniently for their holy dip in the sacred waters.
DFCCIL Exhibhition Camp in Sector-25, Arail at Prayagraj
Praveen Kumar, Managing Director of DFCCIL, visited the DFCCIL exhibition camp and expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming response from the visitors.
The Exhibition Camp has successfully provided visitors with a comprehensive understanding of DFC’s #Construction journey, its state-of-the-art infrastructure, and the technologies driving #Freight operations. Such initiatives play a vital role in highlighting India’s progress in modern rail logistics and inspiring future developments in #transportation infrastructure.
Pictorial banners of Major Bridges, Minor Bridges, Engineering Marvels, Technological advancements utilized in constructing DFC, various models of Engines, Wagons, Operation Control Centre are kept in Exhibhition Camp. Various dignitaries have visited Exhibhition Camp which includes, Director Finance, Director (Project Planning), Retd. Director (Operations and Business Development) of DFCCIL.
The Exhibition Camp showcasing the DFC has received an overwhelming response, with more than 750 visitors attending the camp. Visitors have expressed high appreciation for the technological advancements, engineering marvels, and infrastructure milestones achieved during the transition from the construction phase to the operations phase of DFC.

Praveen Kumar, MD/DFCCIL, inspected the Operation Control Centre in Prayagraj and congratulated the team for their excellence in ensuring seamless and efficient operations during Mahakumbh-2025. He appreciated all officers for breaking records and achieving new milestones in train operations.
During his visit, he also interacted with the maintenance team, advising them to adopt technological advancements for better monitoring and efficiency. Additionally, he acknowledged the dedication and tireless efforts of officers and their teams in swiftly normalizing traffic following the derailment of locomotives and a wagon on 04.02.25.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all team members for their unwavering commitment and excellence, encouraging them to maintain their high momentum and continue setting new benchmarks in the future.
