Importance of New Khurja-New Pilkhani Section

The #NewKhurja-#NewPilkhani section on the #EDFC is an important section which helps in revolutionising #Freight between the #Eastern Parts of India and the #Northern parts of the country.

The speedy movement of coal from the coal fields East to the power stations of North is strengthening the power security of India. This single line section of EDFC plays an important role in the growth & development of iron & steel industries among others. The capacity enhancement of DFC has greatly benefited the #IndianRailwaysтАЩ parallel section, leading to improved performance and efficiency.

Advantages of the DFC project

The Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) have significantly decongested #passenger train tracks, leading to improved #punctuality and lower #logistics costs. The high-capacity tracks of DFC are now accommodating heavy haul trains with increased axle loads, benefiting industries and farmers by allowing more goods to be transported in a single trip.

With longer freight trains (up to 1.5 km), bulk commodity #transportation is more efficient, addressing previous #wagon shortages. Recently, #DFCCIL had run #Anaconda (Three freight trains combined together) and #Brahmastra (Four freight trains combined together) #trains on EDFC successfully.

Faster freight trains ensure quicker deliveries, crucial for #perishable goods. #Maintenance scheduling has also improved with reduced #track congestion. The DFC is helping in opening new investment avenues and fostering overall #industrial growth and supporting initiatives like #AatmanirbharBharat and #ViksitBharat by 2047. ItтАЩs enabling the development of multimodal logistics parks which is further reducing logistics costs and evolving as a catalyst for generating #employment opportunities for the youth.
