CBI arrests a SrDSTE & Chief OS in bribery of ₹1.80 lakh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Divisional Signal & Telecom Engineer (SrDSTE) of IRSSE: 2010 Batch and a Chief Office Superintendent (ChOS), both posted in the office of DRM, Ambala Cantt, Northern Railway for demanding & accepting bribe of ₹1.80 lakh from the Complainant.
A case was registered on complaint against the accused on the allegations of demanding bribe.
It was alleged that the Complainant (a contractor of Railways in Punjab and Haryana) was awarded two contracts through Open Tender of ₹92 lakh & ₹1.15 crore, and after completion of project/contract, he had submitted revised estimates.
It was further alleged that Chief Office Superintendent demanded bribe in lieu of approval of revised estimates which was 2% of the gross contract value on behalf of Senior Divisional Signal & Telecommunication Engineer.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting bribe of ₹1,80,000/- from Complainant.
Searches at residential and office premises of both accused in Ambala were conducted which led to recovery of incriminating documents.
Both the arrested accused are being produced on Wednesday in the Competent Court at Panchkula.
