SER organises exhibition on Railway heritage
Kolkata: South Eastern Railway organised an Exhibition at its Headquarters, Garden Reach, Kolkata on Friday, 22-04-2022 as a part of the closing ceremony of the week-long celebrations of World Heritage Day-2022.
Atulya Sinha, Additional General Manager & Chairman, Zonal Heritage Committee, South Eastern Railway was the Chief Guest on the occasion and inaugurated the Exhibition.
The exhibits included Heritage Items and Photographs of bygone era and also painting/drawings by the students of Railway schools.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Sinha said that the Railway Heritage is an inseparable part of our National Heritage. Railway has a long history and legacy of its own and has always been a link between diverse cultures of our motherland.
He mentioned about the different measures adopted by South Eastern Railway for preserving its glorious heritage and laid emphasis on creating awareness to maintain the legacy for the generations to come.
An Exhibition of painting/drawings by the students of Railway Schools on the theme of “Heritage & Climate Change” was the main attraction of the closing ceremony of the week long observance of World Heritage Day-2022.
Old railway equipment like Hand Signal Lamp, Telephone for Trunk Board Operation, Old Manuals, 16mm Movie Cameras etc. were on display at the exhibition and were appreciated by the enthusiastic visitors.
Certificates were also handed over to eight employees for their contribution in preservation and restoration of Railway Heritage.
Staff and Officers of different departments of SER visited the exhibition. A cultural programme was also organised on the occasion.
