GM/SER inaugurates LMO storage tank, SWM project & commencement of work of railway quarters

Kolkata: Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway inaugurated Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) Storage Tank, Integrated Solid Waste Management (SWM) Project and commencement of work of Railway Quarters at SER Headquarters, Garden Reach, Kolkata on 1st November, 2021.
The LMO Storage Tank with capacity of 13KL installed at SER Central Hospital, Garden Reach is a major initiative by SER for various use of medical oxygen for treating patients as well as COVID affected persons. The total cost of the LMO Storage Tank installation project is Rs.43.49 lakhs.
Integrated Solid Waste Management Project has been completed at a cost of Rs.92.5 lakhs. The project involves door to door collection of waste and segregation of waste into bio-degradable waste, dry waste and domestic hazardous waste.
Bio-degradable waste will be converted to bio-gas and compost. This will reduce 80% of LPG consumption at SER Central Hospital Kitchen. The project will also reduce waste dumping at Dhapa Landfill Sites by 1050 tonnes per year.
The work for 12 units of Type-V Railway Quarter at SER North Colony, Garden Reach has also been commenced today. The proposed G+VI residential quarters will fulfil the long standing demand of railway employees at the headquarters.
