NRMU persuade Railway Administration to start additional trains for staff

Railway employees are facing lot of problems because lack of transportation. Presently Central Railway run workmen’s special trains on stipulated time table to carry essential service staff to and from their work places.

Incidents of rush in these trains were appraised by Venu P Nair, General Secretary of NRMU and have raised it’s serious concern of the difficulties being faced by the employees who are unable to maintain physical distancing during their journey.

On 1st June, in the wake of the phase -1, of the unlock-1 of lockdown declared by the government more staff were called for duty which caused chaos as the returning staff couldn’t get into the crowded train at Vidyavihar Station.

They have held a spontaneous protest in front of the train on the track which invited the attention of General Secretary of NRMU Venu Nair, who promptly intervened in the issue and appropriately urged the administration to resolve it in the interest of staff.

DRM Mumbai Division and PCOM/CRly have taken positive cognisance of the issue placed by NRMU and instantly decided to run additional train from 2nd June with setting up of a convenient time schedule.

The representatives of union has convinced and conveyed the development to the staff and the agitation was withdrawn in a positive note, it is said in press release issued by the Union.
