“Walk Through Mass Sanitizing Tunnel” installed at Ahmedabad Station
Ahmedabad station of Western Railway has installed a “Walk Through Mass Sanitizing Tunnel” inaugurated by DRM/Ahmedabad Deepak Jha on Wednesday, 8th April in the presence of SrDEnHM Fedrick Pariath and Vinod Pandey of M/s Shrishti Machineries Pvt. Ltd, who has developed it for the EnHM Wing, Ahmedabad division.
The walk through mass Sanitizer is an initiative of EnHM wing Ahmedabad division, in an attempt to further ensure that the threat of COVID-19 does not effect the staff and passengers entering Ahmedabad station.
It may be recalled that complete Ahmedabad station sanitization has already done last week through professionals with WHO approved sanitizer hot fogging and cold fogging. With the number of COVID-19 positive cases growing day by day at Ahmedabad, is of necessity to be in preparedness to protect the staff and passengers as and when train services resume.
This Walk Through Mass Sanitizing Tunnel has a length of 20 feet which can be covered within 10 seconds and is fitted with a sensor so that when a passenger approaches the tunnel entrance it starts fogging automatically with WHO approved sanitizer consisting of IPA & Hydrogen Peroxide based liquid sanitizer.
The system runs on the principle of Vaporization process which converts the sanitizer mixture into vapour which forms a uniform layer over the surface without wetting as it dries up quickly being IPA based.
The entire unit consist of a Walk through Tunnel, Electric Panel, Ultrasonic Vaporizing Unit with five outlets on top and five on sides for uniform distribution of Sanitizer, with a storage tank of 500 Liters.
The tunnel has a capacity of sanitizing 25 to 30 persons per minute and consumes approximately 20 ml sanitizer per person.
This is a pilot project at Railway stations on Indian Railways and requirement based more mass sanitizer will be installed in future.
