Mumbai: The #Solapur Division of #CentralRailway has recorded a commendable performance during the financial year 2025–26, demonstrating steady growth across key sectors including passenger traffic, freight operations and non-fare revenue generation, while continuing to enhance passenger services and operational efficiency.
Robust Revenue Growth
Solapur Division achieved a total originating revenue of ₹894.61 crore, marking a 6.85% increase over the previous year, reflecting sustained efforts toward revenue augmentation.
- Passenger Revenue stood at ₹407.95 crore, registering a 7.87% growth over last year.
- Freight Revenue reached ₹448.18 crore, achieving a 6.31% increase compared to the previous year.
- Other Coaching Revenue and Commercial Sundry Revenue also recorded steady growth, further strengthening the Division’s earnings profile.
Significant Growth in Passenger Traffic
The Solapur Division witnessed a notable rise in passenger movement:
- Handling above 1.99 crore passengers, which is an 8.46% increase over last year. This reflects growing public confidence in railway services and improved connectivity.
Freight & Goods Traffic Highlights
The Solapur Division continued to strengthen its freight portfolio through diversification and operational improvements:
- Ranked 5th in Indian Railways in incremental loading, highlighting strong freight performance.
- Commencement of POL (Petroleum, Oil & Lubricants) traffic loading at IOCL Pakni, generating ₹62.4 crore revenue through 393 rakes.
- Achieved highest-ever molasses loading of 17 rakes with ₹9.6 crore in revenue, showing significant growth over the previous year.
- A total of 116 rakes of sugar were loaded in the FY 2025-26 alongwith expansion of sugar loading to new destinations with 15 rakes across Erode junction, Kudal nagar, Tiruchirapalli, Nellikuppam of Southern India.
- Initiated steel billet inward traffic at Bhigvan with 6 rakes, hence opening new revenue streams.
- Shift towards bulk cement loading from bagged cement loading, improving efficiency and logistics.
Amrit Bharat Station Work
Under ABSS total 12 stations have been taken in Solapur Division namely Solapur, Kalaburagi, Latur, kurduvadi, Jeur, Dharashiv, Pandharpur, Dudhani, Gangapur Road, Shahabad, Wadi and Akkalkot Road. The total sanctioned cost for these works is approximately ₹330 Cr. Also phase-2 of ABSS for the 12 stations have been sanctioned from the headquarter

- Provision of Lifts at Stations: total 29 lifts Provision of passenger lifts at the following stations: Solapur (2), Dudhani (2), Gangapur (2), Kalaburagi (4), Shahabad (2), Wadi (4), Jeur (3), Kurduvadi (2), Pandharpur (4), Dharashiv (2) and Latur (2)
- Provision of High Level Platforms at Bhigwan, Hotgi, Malthan, Boroti, Kulali, Harangul, Jinti Road, Kettur, Mohol, Murud, Kalamb Road, Shendri Stations
- Provision of Foot Over Bridges (FOB – 3.0 m wide) At Harangul, Boribel, Malthan, Mundhewadi, Pakni and Bale Stations
Record Crowd Management
The Solapur Division successfully managed massive passenger movement during the Ashadhi Ekadashi Mela 2025:
- Handled 42,400 passengers on main day of July 6th 2025
- Achieved 23.24% increase in passenger footfall and 25.40% rise in earnings during the period.
- Maintained exemplary safety standards with “Zero Injury” and “Zero Casualty”, showcasing effective planning and coordination.
Boost in Non-Fare Revenue (NFR)
The Solapur Division recorded significant growth in non-fare revenue:
- Generated ₹2.66 crore, reflecting a 31.69% increase over last year.
- Strong performance in Commercial Publicity Revenue.
- Awarded new contracts including grocery kiosks, RDN (Rail Display Network), parking, OOH (Out of Home) advertising and canteens, generating ₹91.95 lakh annually.
Passenger Amenities & Innovation
The Solapur Division introduced several passenger-centric and innovative initiatives:
- Installation of Digital Access Map Boards at major stations like Solapur, Kalaburagi, Kurduvadi and Jeur.
- Launch of a Rail Coach Restaurant at Solapur, enhancing passenger experience.
- Introduction of biometric sign-on/off system for ticket checking staff—first in Central Railway.
- Augmentation of additional coaches in Solapur-Mumbai Vande Bharat to meet passenger demand.
- Installation of Braille signage to improve accessibility for visually impaired passenger at Solapur & Kalaburagi stations
Operational Excellence & Social Responsibility
- Ensured seamless passenger support during emergencies, including arranging buses for stranded passengers during flooding.
- Conducted medical camps under TB-Free India Campaign, benefiting railway workers and labourers.
- Facilitated innovative cargo movement, including silk cocoon transport from Pandharpur to Ramanagaram.
Financial Prudence
The Solapur Division also demonstrated strong financial discipline through recovery of outstanding dues:
- Recovered ₹9.23 crore in siding charges, including significant recoveries from key freight customers.
