Sanction of final location surve for 3rd-4th rail line between Ranchi-Hatia-Balsiring

Kolkata: Railway Board has sanctioned the Final Location Survey (#FLS) for the proposed 3rd and 4th line between Ranchi-Hatia-Balsiring in Ranchi Division of South Eastern Railway, covering a total stretch of 14 kilometres. The sanctioned cost of the survey is ₹33.60 lakh.

The Ranchi-Hatia-Balsiring section is an important Rail corridor in Jharkhand, witnessing steadily increasing passenger and freight traffic. The introduction of a 3rd and 4th line is expected to significantly enhance line capacity, improve operational capicity and ensure punctual movement of trains.

This survey marks a crucial preparatory step before the commencement of detailed project planning and execution.

Once completed, the 3rd and 4th line between Ranchi-Hatia-Balsiring will strengthen connectivity around the capital city of Ranchi, supporting both economic growth and passenger convenience. The new lines will also enhance freight movement and thereby support the regional industries.

The sanction of the survey reaffirms Indian Railways’ commitment to expanding high-potential routes and building future-ready Railway infrastructure.
