Corruption in NF Railway by higher officials

Guwahati: On 07.08.25 a representation has been sent to Prime Minister by Priyanku Pratim Parasar, Advocate requesting action and investigation against top officials including GM(OL), PCME, PCE of #NFRailway for their corrupt and inappropriate practices. Out of many instances, the three cases specifically mentioned in the letter are-

  1. Two railway staff were caught on 16.07.25 by GRP at Siliguri with huge amount of cash that were being sent by #SrCDO of Guwahati. Out of five bags under transit containing about Rs. 1.8 crores, only two bags were seized and balance bags remains unaccounted or untressed. After the backdoor intervention on behalf of General Manager (Open Line) cash was released by Siliguri Court. The origin of the huge amount of cash is illegal gratification. In this case Dharmendra Sakhya, SrCDO/Guwahati has been transferred to #NFR HQ on 30.07.25 but, as per information, he is not attending office and his whereabouts is not known. One mechanical staff is suspended on 06.08.25.
  2. General Manager (Open Line) is in the habitually running Special Trains for himself along with key Principal HODs for attending festivals and entertainment. Instances were also given of GM Special to attend ‘Hornbill Festival’ in Nagaland in December, 2023; ‘Ziro Festival’ in Arunachal Pradesh in September, 2024; for meetings at Lumding (September, 2024), Dibrugarh (November, 2024), New Jalpaiguri (January, 2025). These are gross misuse of authority in violation of existing instructions and moreover regular trains are available for attachment of GM’s saloons.
  3. General Manager (Open Line) and his team having no time to celebrate Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on the designate day of 14th April, 2025 though they have attended Inauguration of Bihu festival in the Railway colony. This has greatly angered a large section of local population.

Their activities and corrupt practices is tarnishing the clean image of the popular government. It is seen that the blatant #corruption has caused poor attention in their core activities that resulted into, in addition to others, frequent train disruption in the vital Lumding – Badarpur section that cut-off Tripura and Silchar, and brought extreme hardship to people of this region.

For the grievous #collision accident of #Kanchanjunga Express on 17.06.24 that killed 10 persons in which the #CRS concluded that the #accident occurred due to “Lapses at multiple levels in managing the train operations under Automatic Signal failures” and various divisional and headquarters officials NFR were held responsible for this accident but no punitive action was taken against the culprits divisional and HQ officials.
