According to reliable sources of Railway Board, the Ministry of Railways will initially merge the Accounts and Personnel department.

After this, various categories of Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical will also be merged into one department, sources said.

This would help end the cadre rivalry between the authorities departments for years.

Instructions have been given to officers from the Ministry to accommodate several departments into a single department.

An official said that on the orders of the ministry, Zones and Divisions are preparing for it.

The Ministry of Railways can also announce the changes in the structure in December itself.
