IRC provides platform for exchanging modern equipment and technology for construction among delegates

PATNA: The 80th annual convention of Indian Roads Congress (IRC) organized by Road and Construction Department, Government of Bihar at Samrat Convention Kendra has provided a platform for engineers and professionals working in construction sector across India and foreign countries to exchange the latest technology and innovation in manufacturing and construction industry.
Scholars and experts from our country and foreign countries participated in the technical session where they presented new researches and latest techniques in field of road safety, transportation and construction sector. Modern equipment designed to minimize road accidents are main attraction of the technical exhibition.
On Saturday, six sittings of technical session were held
In first sitting, Principal scientists from CSIR-CRRI, New Delhi gave presentations on Road research work done in India. The presentations were related to Highway planning, design and management, geotechnical engineering, bridge engineering, and Traffic & Transportation. In second session, three papers published in IRC Journal were presented.
In third technical session, chaired by Amrit Lal Meena, Principal Secretary, RCD Bihar, experience & success story of BRPNNL & BSRDC and longterm road maintenance policy are presented by the Bihar government officials. Orissa presented their innovative bridge management system developed to take care of timely maintenance and repair aspect of bridge according to health indicator of bridge. Maharashtra presented their reports regarding water storage structure integrated with bridge structure.
Panel discussion was held on the topic of тАЬClimate Resilient Road ConstructionтАЭ, three papers published in Traffic engineering and road safety Journal of IRC were presented.
It is important to mention that during late evening cultural programme in Bapu sabhagaar the popular Bollywood singer Shaan announced his voluntarily participation for the purpose of road safety in association with IRC.
On the third day of 80th IRC Convention, delegates voted for the formation of council for the next annual session of IRC through online voting between 12 to 4 pm.
In late evening, cultural programme was organized at Bapu Sabhagar in which artisans of East Culture Zone under union ministry of culture across the country mesmerized the audience with their performance. The 80th annual session of IRC will conclude on December 22 with Valedictory session and post-session tours to important tourist and heritage places in Bihar.

Indian Roads Congress (IRC) has played a great role in construction of Highways and bridges with implementation of latest design and innovative techniques across different states of the country including Bihar.
IRC is the apex body of Highway Engineers in the country. The IRC was set up in December, 1934 on the recommendations of the Indian Road Development Committee best known as Jayakar Committee set up by the Govt. of India with the objective of Road Development in India.
IRC primarily focus on controlling standardization of specifications and recommendations as regards design and construction of roads and bridges.
