Why the IT in Railways is miles away?

If Indian Railways wants to drive IT fast in the domain, then a post like ED/C&IS must be manned by someone expert in the field

Indian Railway talks about generalisation in management on one side, while on the other side it advertises certain posts for a specific cadre.

Everyone got surprised when they saw vacancy notification number VC/56/2022 for ED/C&IS.

Such a technical post being reserved only for a specific cadre (IRTS) is challenging to digest.

This is the reason that the Information Technology (IT) in Railways is miles away.

If Indian Railways wants to drive IT fast in the domain, then a post like ED/C&IS must be manned by someone expert in the field preferable to some IT man from the CRIS cadre or domain expert.

#Railwhispers hope that the Railway Minister and Chairman & CEO Railway Board will take cognizance of this fact and open the post of C&IS for the IT experts.
