Railway compromising with the safety of traveling passengers
Greedy officials in nexus with private vendors are putting the life of crores of traveling passengers at great risk
As per direction of Supreme Court in a matter related to fire safety in railway coaches, a high power committee was set up.
They had categorically recommended that none of the FST (Fire, Smoke & Toxicity) properties should be part of type tests. Instead, those should form part of acceptance tests. These recommendations were accepted by the Railway Board.
Despite that, Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala in several fire prone items used in coaches, especially FRP items, diluted the Supreme Court directions in active connivance with few private vendors and removed FST properties from acceptance tests.
In result, such items are being supplied and used in coaches without proper tests, and thereby, compromising with the safety of traveling passengers.
Type tests are mere demonstration of a particular technology and have absolutely no connection with the quality of regular supplies.
Unless FST properties are made part of the acceptance test, entire excercise of acceptance of such fire prone materials is farce and an eye wash.
Greedy concerned railway officials in nexus with private vendors are putting the life of crores of traveling passengers at great risk.
This calls for a full fledged and serious investigation.
