Foreign material resulting in intermittent Choking was found in the pipeline

Attention to all the related running staff

A BOXNHL rake was intermittently giving trouble in West Central Railway (#WCR) for poor brake power over a period of 4-5 months.

As a result of this two SPAD cases occured in WCR and 3-4 averted SPADs involving this same rake.

No defects/ abnormality were noticed or found during trials and joints after such incidences.

Finally, problem has been identified after joint efforts of RDSO and Knorr Bermse – the supplier of the brake system for this rake.

Using Foreign material resulting in intermittent Choking was found in the pipeline of one of the wagon – 13th from Loco.

Item was found with endoscopy of wagon pipelines – this item was not removed from pipelines during blowing done to remove dust etc.
