DRUCC Member requests for route diversion of trains

B. Siva Kumar, a nominated member of DRUCC for Madurai Division, Southern Railway, want to bring passengers’ problems to the notice of railway authorities and the following long pending issue.

Since the Madurai division started, when we had meter gauge and in 1990’s when it was converted to broad gauge, there is not a single long-distance more than 1000 km running daily train from or via Madurai Division and Tiruchirappalli Divisions. This is the saddest state of affairs of railway in the Madurai region, he said in a release.

He requested to the railway authorities to take appropriate action on this issue.

Route divert of Kanyakumari – Dibrugarh 15905/15906 via Madurai Division (Tirunelveli & Madurai) reg.

Recently railways increase the frequency of Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh (15905/06) from weekly to daily service. As everybody knows that Kanyakumari district people are a political part of Tamilnadu. Our district passengers want more trains towards Tamilnadu cities (i.e. via Tirunelveli, Madurai, Chennai route).

He request Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh 15905/15906 daily express to divert via the shortest route of Madurai division – Tirunelveli, Madurai – which will cover the entire East Coast Economic Corridor project belt, benefiting crores of people.

If this demand isn’t possible then short termination of this 15905/15906 train at Thiruvananthapuram or Kochuveli itself.

Route divert of Kanyakumari – Mumbai Express 16381/16382 via Ernakulam, Mangalore, Madgaon

Kanyakumari-Mumbai CSMT 16381/82 train should be operated through Ernakulam, Mangalore and Madgaon (KR) route. Hence the train will reach the destination (Mumbai CSMT) within 30hrs from the origin (Kanyakumari) which will be more helpful for the Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari District passengers. It may please be noted that there are no direct daily trains from Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari districts to Konkan Railway route.
