Who is more powerful – A DRM or a Traffic Inspector !
Trivandrum: In all other Divisions of Indian Railways in the country it will be DRM who is the super boss of the division and more powerful than the branch officers, but in the Trivandrum division of Southern Railway its traffic inspectors (TIs) placed at Divisional Headquarters acting as Super DRM and Super SrDOM. They decide their own transfer and postings that is the new story emerging from Kerala.
If you have good rapport with a Mafia Union you can do anything here. They will even decide your future in the division.
In the beginning, TIs will act as slaves in front of newly appointed superiors. They will bend on their knees until they manage to find a place in the superior’s mind. Being obedient to officers they start their game. And will do all the damage to the rest of the staff. This is a continuing process.
The Four TIs in Trivandrum Division is notorious for holding those posts for more than 15 to 20 years. Every time there is an allegation they will simply move out for a couple of months and when things settle down they will be back to their bastion.
TIs and other traffic supervisors and the selected staff are posted for a period of maximum five years as per the relevant Railway Board’s guidelines. As per rule after 5 years they should be shunted out. But in Trivandrum division violating all norms TIs are remaining in the same posts.
From outside TI job is a dog job but in reality, it is not so. It is alleged that some of the TIs at Headquarters mint lakhs of rupees on every transfer and posting. And there are also plenty of complaints against their bad behavior towards ladies staff, including molestation charges. But women staffers are afraid to open up as long as these morons are hanging as swords over their heads.
Traffic Inspector/Planning was sitting in the same office from 1/5/2008 in the current position. That is more than 12 years in the same capacity. Like this fevicol stick there are 3 more people with the same track record.
One senior IRSE officer commented as, “TI can enter anybody’s chamber but other inspectors can’t approach even SrDOM. Dryings are checked by TI/Plg who may not have any technical knowledge at all and SrDOMs then just sign. IRMS will resolve atleast this issue”.
As per record, 2008 is the last time when some of these people were transferred. No one is checking what happened before 2008? Unfortunately, they were in the same place.
Present controversy erupted after railway has published a transfer list with 4 these TIs were rotated within the same office. And landed in trouble.
In Kerala, this has become a news and higher-ups in Chennai are unhappy with the developments. They have asked the divisional authorities to contain the issue there itself. And TIs are busy writing charge sheets against DRKS and AISMA leaders who wrote letters on the same issue.
DRKS which is part of ruling party in the centre is escalating the matter to Railway Minister, Railway Board and General Manager, Southern Railway for justice.
