SER Bharat Scouts & Guides doing yeoman service to the community during this lockdown period in the wake of Covid-19

Kolkata : South Eastern Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides of SER headquarters and 4 Divisions have been providing Community Services with provision of cooked meals, ration of daily needs, face masks, soaps, hand sanitizer etc during Lockdown in the wake of Covid-19.

SER Bharat Scouts & Guides have been rendering yeoman services with a mission that no one should remain hungry and all poor and needy people must be equally treated as service to the mankind.

SER Scouts & Guides distributed more than 20,000 meals comprising of rice, egg & potato curry, soya beans, vegetables, khichury etc to the poor and needy people viz daily wage workers, rickshaw pullers, street beggars, slum dwellers and their families in and around large areas of entire South Eastern Railway during these lockdown days.

Apart from the above nearly 2 Lakhs dry ration packets of essential foods were distributed to the needy which include rice, pulses, onions, edible oil, potatoes, spices, salt, sugar etc.

SER have also distributed more than 7500 face masks produced by the Rangers/Rovers of South Eastern Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides.

As commitment to fight against Corona virus, the Scouts & Guides also conducted more than 100 awareness campaign among masses to explain the need for frequent hand washing with soap and sanitizer, and also distributed more than 14000 hand sanitizer and soaps among the poor people.

These apart, Infrared Thermal Test has been conducted among common & poor people at Santragàchi and other places in this railway.

Blood Donation camps are also organized by Divisional Scouts & Guides maintaining physical distancing to fulfill the requirement of blood for the persons at hospitals and for Thalessemia patients.

Not only these, numerous community services have been rendered to slum dwellers by SER Bharat Scouts & Guides.

The Rovers, Rangers and young Scouters who are more than 1000, actively involved in this noble work with full assistance from Railway officials are committed to serve the needy and poorer masses till the end of lockdowns and until the normalcy returns for fulfilling the doctrine “Once a Scout-Always a Scout.”
