CBI Arrests CEDE, Central Railway in a Bribery Case

Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (#CBI) has arrested three persons including Ramesh Kumar Chauve, Chief Electrical Distribution Engineer (#CEDE) of Central Railway in a bribery case.
 
The CBI registered the instant case against the officer of #IndianRailway Services of Electrical Engineers (#IRSEE) 2003 Batch, working as CEDE, #CentralRailway, #RameshKumarChauve and others on 09.03.2026.

The case pertains to alleged irregularities in the award of #Tender, valued at ₹40.54 Crore, awarded to #JayantInfra, a private company. The accused CEDE acted in connivance with stakeholders of the Jayant Infra in the award of the tender and demanded a bribe amount of ₹40 Lakh i.e. 1% of the total tender value.  
 
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused CEDE, after he accepted #bribe amount of ₹10 Lakh from the private person. CBI recovered the bribe amount of ₹10 Lakh from the accused’s chamber. The accused CEDE and two private persons have been arrested.  
 
Searches were conducted at 5 locations, including in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Karjat, at the premises of the accused persons.
 
During searches at premises of the accused CEDE, ₹90.79 lakh in cash and Gold jewellery of 241.30 gram, Silver jewellery of 2577 gram amounting to ₹42.52 Lakh and other documents of investments were recovered.

Further from the accused CEDE’s office chamber cash amounting to ₹3.85 Lakh was also recovered, the total seizure being worth ₹1.47 Crore. Besides these, other incriminating documents were also recovered during the searches. Investigation is continuing.
