Train connectivity from Baripada to Puri

New Delhi: In reply to a question 21.03.2025, raised by Dr. Sasmit Patra, MP in Loksabha on Train connectivity from Baripada to Puri, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, pleased to answer the following:

Representations/requests, both formal and informal, are received from State Governments, Ministries of Central Government, Elected Representatives, Consultative Committees etc. by the Railways at various levels including Railway Board, Zonal Railways, Divisional office etc. As receipt of such representations / requests is a continuous and dynamic process, centralized compendium of such representations / requests is not maintained. However, the representation / request etc. are dealt as per laid down procedure/guidelines and action as found feasible and justified is taken from time to time.

To cater to the needs of passengers, Indian Railway operates regular train services which are supplemented by special services to meet the extra rush of passengers. Accordingly, Bhanjpur-Puri sector is served by one pair of train service viz. 12891/12892 Bangriposi-Puri Express (Daily), which operates with Chair Car coaches in its composition.

Train 12891 Bangriposi-Puri Express departs from Bangriposi at 04:20 hrs, its timings at Baripada is 05:04/05:06 hrs and it arrives Bhubaneswar at 10:00 hrs. The Bhanjpur-Puri sector is also being served by 08011/08012 Bhanjpur-Puri Special (Bi-weekly) which operates via Baripada and Bhubaneswar.

Besides, introduction of new train services/increase in frequency of services is an ongoing process on Indian Railways subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility, resource availability, etc.

Indian Railways puts into use only those coaches, for running of passengers carrying trains, which are fit in all respects and are within their Codal life. Besides, old/damaged coaches are replaced by new coaches on the basis of to age-cum-condition.

Further, in its endeavor to provide better and safer journey to the travelling passengers, Indian Railways have decided to proliferate/induct modern Linke Hofmann Busch (#LHB) coaches and convert trains operating with conventional coaches by LHB coaches, which is being undertaken in a phased manner, subject to operational feasibility, resource availability etc.
