Central Government Rules Out Revision of Retirement Age, Focusing on Youth Employment in Civil Services
New Delhi: The #government has dismissed proposals to revise the age of #superannuation for all civil servants, quashing discussions around a uniform retirement age based on either a 30-year service period or the completion of 60 years of age.
This response came in the form of a statement in the Lok Sabha on December 4 by Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
In response to a question raised by Tejasvi Surya, the #Minister clarified that no such proposal is under consideration. The issue of aligning #retirement ages across government services to provide better opportunities for the youth, particularly those born after 2000, was not being pursued by the Government.
The Government, however, remains committed to enhancing #employment opportunities for young Indians within #civil-services. It continues to focus on filling vacant posts in a time-bound manner across various central government ministries, public sector undertakings, and autonomous bodies.
Furthermore, regular #RozgarMela are being organised as part of a mission mode approach to swiftly address #vacancies across diverse sectors, ensuring youth are given ample opportunities to serve the nation through government roles.
The Government’s approach signals ongoing efforts to integrate #youth into the civil services without altering the current retirement structures.
