Smt. Darshana Jardosh holds a review meeting with South Eastern and Eastern Railway at Kolkata
Kolkata: Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Railways and Textiles, Govt. of India held a high level meeting to review the performance of South Eastern Railway and Eastern Railway at Fairlie Place, Kolkata on 06.01.2024. Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway and other Principal Heads of South Eastern and Eastern Railway were present at the review meeting.
Smt. Jardosh, during the meeting, held detailed discussion on different ongoing projects and laid emphasis on timely completion of projects like new line, doubling, third line, road over bridge, passenger amenity works etc. Discussions were also held to enhance passenger safety and security. Smt. Jardosh, reviewed the progress of work under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in South Eastern and Eastern Railway.
Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway informed the Minister of State for Railways about the various developmental initiatives taken by South Eastern Railway viz. progress of ongoing projects, growth in freight loading, redevelopment of stations, introduction of new trains, security arrangements for passengers and environment friendly measures. He also apprised the progress of safety works initiated by South Eastern Railway and additional passenger amenity works at different stations. He added that SER is presently running four Vande Bharat Express trains for convenience of passengers and tourists.
In the meeting, Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway appraised Minister regarding various key statistics on performance, safety initiatives, traffic pattern, loading, originating revenue, environment conservation initiatives, passenger amenities etc.
Smt. Darshana Jardosh suggested some improvement measures during the meeting and appreciated the overall performance of South Eastern Railway and Eastern Railway.
