Armed Maoists attack goods train, stopped the train & snatched the walkie-talkie from the loco pilot, forcefully hung up banners on the engine & wagons and gave the pamphlets to┬а distribute
Waltair: At about 17.50 hrs in the evening on Sunday, 18th September, 2022, information was received from the crew of goods train no. KVS11 that a group of about 50 Maoists were on track and a few were holding a red cloth across the track.
Accordingly emergency brake applied by the loco pilot and stopped the train at KM 433 in the block section Bacheli-Bhansi of Dantewara-Kirandul section.
They took the walkie-talkie sets from the loco pilot, tied the banner on the locomotive, gave them pamphlets and asked them to proceed to Dantewara and distribute the pamphlets there.
When the train stopped, about 15 persons approached the Guard van, took his walkie-talkie too.
Most of the persons were carrying long fire arms, but they didn’t harm the crew.
The train started from the spot after Maoists moved into the jungle and the train has safely reached Bhansi.
The train has been allowed in the section with 15 kmph speed restriction.
All other trains have been suspended in between Dantewara-Kirandul section.
The Coras Commando team is scheduled to move in the same section and they have been alerted about the Maoist movement.
