BPS request to FM, allow additional quantum of Pension to the Pensioners
A large no. of them especially in the lower rang are now at the verge of starvation & need immediate financial relief

Maheshwari, Secretary General, Bharat Pensioners Samaj (BPS), one of the identified Central Government Pensioners organization of Government of India тАУ DOP&PW with a reach to over 10 lakh pensioners written a letter to the Minister of Finance on 8th July, 2021 for reconsideration of percentage of pension in favour of aging senior citizens.
He writes, As a Federation of Pensioners Associations in India, it is our privilege to seek redressal of grievances of pensioners who are the senior citizens in the evening of their lives.
Accepting the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations with effect from 01.06.2021, GOI had allowed an additional Pension of 20, 30, 40, 50 & 100 % for Central Government retirees and family pensioners on attaining the age of 80, 85, 90, 95 & 100 years respectively.
To cater to additional expenditure due to old age disabilities/diseases which actually set in by the time an employee retires and go on manifesting very fast, needing additional finances to take care of these disabilities and diseases.
He says to the FM, you are very well aware that during the last one & a half decade financial scenario has entirely changed. Cost of living especially the cost of health care has gone very high. Pensioners/Senior citizens are worst affected by corona-19 pandemic 1 & 2, falling interest rates on their deposits and the DR freeze.

Govt. of Telangana vide their order dated 23.06.2021 has allowed additional quantum of Pension/Family Pension to Pensioners/Family Pensioners on attaining the age of 70 years and above as per following scale:
1. From 70 years to less 15% of basic pension than 75 years.
2. From 75 years to less 20% of basic pension than 80 years.
3. From 80 years to less 30% of basic pension than 85 years.
4. From 85 years to less 40% of basic pension than 90 years.
5. From 90 years to less 50% of basic pension than 95 years
6. From 95 years to less 60% of basic pension than 100 years.
7. 100 years and more 100% of basic pension.
Finally he requested to the FM that it will not be too much on our part to request you to grant similar relief to Central Government Pensioners/family pensioners.
