RPF/SIB units can manned by SIs promoted under rule 70 or direct recruited SIs with 4/5 years of service
Recently, a good number of #RPF personnel working as #CBs/#HCs/#ASIs got promoted to the rank of Sub-inspector (#SI) after clearing the computer based test conducted across the country under #RPF-Rule-72 after amendment in #RPF-rule in the 2021. It is indeed a great moment for them and time to rejoice. These newly promoted SIs will also undergo 84 days orientation course, especially designed for them.
It is noteworthy to mention here that SIs promoted under RPF rule 70 are still required to undergo only 56 days Orientation course. The decision to increase the period of orientation course for SIs promoted under rule 70 has been done rightly so, considering the fact that these SIs would have very little knowledge about case enquiries and other aspects as compared to SIs promoted under rule 70.
But, they are raising another issue for kind attention of administrative authorities including DG/RPF.
A good number of #RPF personnel posted in Special Wings (#SW) of RPF also got promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector under rule-72 and strangely, they have been posted in #SIB units itself citing directive 52.
The fact that these #SIs will also be eligible for promotion to the rank of #IPF in next 6 to 7 years time along with their counterparts posted at post level and given the fact that they would lack basic knowledge with regard to enquiry of cases and other aspects after being posted in #SpecialWing for next few years and hence, they will be liabilities for the department after their promotion as Inspectors.
The SIs promoted under rule 72 are the creams of RPF department. Therefore, They need to be posted at important/vital posts of all the division instead of SIBs, so that they may gain knowledge and develop mindset as officer to shoulder higher responsibilties confidently.
Members of the #Force are not undermining the role of SIB units but these units can be manned by SIs promoted under rule 70 or directly recruited SIs with 4/5 years of service-who have already gained knowledge with regard to enquiries and other aspects of RPF as Officers.
The DG/RPF should take special attention on this subject as early as possible.
