The so called merger of services planned by the govt in Railways is more of a conspiracy and less of stupidity
This merger will create an state of total confusion and ultimately it will affect safety of Railways and passengers
When departments are expected to continue how merger of cadres can remove departmentalism? And it may help achieve aspirations of individuals but will it help the organisation?
How can a cardiologist decide on a subject of mechanical engineering?
How can a Civil Engineer take the best decision on a subject of Electrical Engineering?
Officers will have an equal opportunity based on merit cum seniority to become a part of the Railway Board. Posts will not be fixed based on the officer's cadre.
We will have an Alternate Mechanism to ensure that the promotion and seniority of all 8,400 officers are protected. pic.twitter.com/3KyR6piSJ5

The so called merger of eight organized services planned by the government in Railways is more of a conspiracy and less of stupidity. The following points were overlooked while taking this completely baffling decision-
#Point_1: Officers are recruited into different streams are put to years of rigorous training to become experts in their different fields.
#Point_2: Further, after working for decades they understand the finer points and nuances of their branch and contribute in efficient management of their distinct branch.
#Point_3: The a big question is, How can a cardiologist decide on a subject of mechanical engineering? Or a civil engineer take the best decision on a subject of Electrical engineering?
#Point_4: What will happen to the service conditions of various cadres? Will it not bring about wide spread disenchantment and frustration?
#Point_5: A person who got RPF in the merit in UPSC can now be equal to IRAS and called upon to discharge the works of Traffic planning!
#Point_6: If multiple Members at the Railway Board is a problem, why did this government create posts of two more Members in the recent past???
#Point_7: One must approach public and simply ask them one question-
“Will you send your child to a school in which history teacher teaches maths and Maths teacher teaches English and English teacher techs History?”
#Point_8: They will understand and support. This should also make them understand that ‘this merger will create an state of total confusion and ultimately it will affect safety of Railways and passengers’.
@RailMinIndia @PMOIndia Will you send your child to a school in which history teacher teaches maths and Maths teacher teaches English and English teacher techs History ?
This merger will create an state of total confusion and ultimately it will affect safety passengers.#NotoIRMS— VSBhadauria (@vs_bhadauria) December 26, 2019
#Point_9: When departments are expected to continue how merger of cadres can remove departmentalism? And it may help achieve aspirations of individuals but will it help the organisation? That’s the main point.
#Point_10: Many organization or the departments the world over are going for more and more specialisation. Even in police department branches like traffic, intelligent, microwave, crime etc are being treated as specialised branches in developed countries without any interchange of staff and officers. Hence, this merger in #IndianRailways will be retrograde and harmful for its management.
A Msg on social media after Vedio Conference
The Vedio Conference being held on Thursday, 26th December 2019 at 1600 hrs Member Traffic has desired that PHODs should articulate the concerns of the cadre in a logical and cogent manner. It should be kept in mind that direct opposition to the idea may not be a right strategy since it’s a decision of Cabinet. We should voice our concerns with regards to the implementation process, the concerns like –
a) Promotional aspects
b) Prospects of IRTS officers becoming DRMs/GMs (presently we are 2-3 years ahead w.r.t. to others in DRM postings)
c) Change in service conditions w.r.t. recruitment
d) The reason behind the age differences and the impact of these differences in the inter-se-seniority
e) Functional roles and responsibilities of IRTS officers in the new regime
f) How it is envisaged that civil services officers will perform the engg/technical functions at the different levels etc.
The above mentioned concerns are only indicative and any logical concern voiced by the officers of the Zone should be brought forward by the PHODs.
