AIRF organisted huge demonstration all over the country for restoration of OPS
New Delhi: On the call of the All India Railway Men’s Federation (AIRF), the affiliated unions of AIRF on Monday, 14th March, 2022 organised a huge demonstrations in the lunch hrs. at their respective offices, HQs regarding the old pension scheme (OPS) on the entire Indian Railways, in which all the employees of Indian Railways participated.
AIRF General Secretary, Shiva Gopal Mishra, while addressing a protest demonstration organised at the office of the General Manager, Northern Railway, Baroda House, New Delhi on this occasion said that the new pension scheme (NPS) is completely against the government employees because there is no any guarantee of family pension and of the minimum amount.
He said that if the new pension scheme is so good, then why do not the leaders of the country adopt it?
The General Secretary further said that the employees who are in government service after 01.01.2004, there is a lot of anger against the new pension scheme and they are very worried about their future after their retirement because the young fellow who joined the government services on or after 01.01.2004.
After the recruitment, they have been deprived of the old pension scheme and the new pension scheme has been imposed on them, due to which the future and old age life of lakhs of employees is in the dark without old pension scheme, he said.
He also said that since 2004, AIRF and its affiliated unions have been opposing this new pension scheme. Therefore, the government should immediately abolish the New Pension Scheme and restore the Old Pension Scheme, so that the future of the these employees coming under NPS scheme can be cut comfortably in old age. They should not be dependent on anyone else.
He further said that the Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh governments have done a commendable job by getting the bill for restoration of Old Pension Scheme passed from the assembly by abolishing the New Pension Scheme.
We also appeal to the Government of India through this demonstration that in view of the protest organised against the New Pension Scheme of all government employees all over the Indian Railways’ immediately restore the Old Pension Scheme.
General Secretary, Shiva Gopal Mishra said that today a huge demonstration was held under the banner of AIRF for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme under the leadership of our affiliated unions, in which a large number of railway employees expressed their angues against the new pension scheme.
AIRF Assistant General Secretary and NRMU Central President S. K. Tyagi while addressing the demonstration said that in today’s date the biggest issue especially for the young employees is that of the New Pension Scheme, due to which they have no future which is very big matter of concern.
The demonstration was addressed by the Divisional Secretary of the Headquarters Division, Sanjeev Saini, Divisional President Alok Mishra, besides many office bearers of Delhi, HQs and Accounts Division.
In Delhi, a large number of railway employees expressed their angues and demanded for restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, with the demonstration held at stations like Sarai Rohilla, New Delhi Railway Station, Divisional Railway Manager Office, Old Delhi, Ghaziabad etc.
