Union leaders are acting like Capitalists in the Railways
An open letter to N. Kanniah, President-AIRF
It is unfortunate that even the union leaders are acting like capitalists while they constitute the Management, say the Employees of the Chennai Society and workmen in general.
In the case of Railway Employees Co-operative Cradit Society (RECCS Ltd.), Chennai, the major railway union SRMU/AIRF is the main culprit.
The Society, which is under the Railway union SRMU/AIRF for more than two decades, is refusing to implement the basic labour acts like standing orders act at the Society even after the High Court’s Order.
The employees who dare to question the arbitrary conduct of the Management of the Society are being transferred, suspended and even dismissed.
The Society is using its huge financial resources to scuttle the fight of the employees at various legal forums.
It is unfortunate that N. Kanniah, the Charman if the Society who is also holding the post of President of the AIRF, is living a double life like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hide.
The present Chief Executive of the Society, N. Manivannan, is neither qualified nor has the experience required for the post.
His actions against the employees of the Society of late is nothing but psychotic.
It is pity that the so called doyens of trade unionism and senior office bearers of AIRF/SRMU, like Shiva Gopal Mishra and Raja Sridhar, are mute spectators of the anti – employee activities of their own people in the Chennai Society.
The sheer volume of cases and disputes filed by the employees and the employees’ union of the Society is a clear indication how badly the employees of the Society are treated by the so-called trade union leaders.
