Why IRTS’ Current Leadership is a National Shame

#IRTS had been a vaunted #Service amongst the Civil Services of India. This Service truly led in the most exceptional way in which they worked with their #Engineering counterparts and developed their Service in a manner that had an #earning-mindset. This was contrary to spending and #zamindar-mindset of other civil services recruited by #UPSC.
In a way this Service represented the best that Indian Civil Services (#ICS) produced in working culture and nationalistic ethos. In no other services such a balance could be found.
Not anymore dear reader, not anymore..

IRTS few decades ago were known for their exceptional #integrity, #ethical-conduct and #honest dealings. It is of course true that such integrity was found in all Services as #Railway officers worked in highly resource constrained environment. However, with passage of time and especially during #UPA era, #Traffic-Service went to pits. It is common joke that traffic distinguishes itself in taking #bribe from their #customers.

One such #coal-handlers was identified and was transferred out of #RailBhawan at New Delhi by then Chairman/Railway Board, but without knowledge of then #CRB, it was expertise of #traffic-mafia that this officer not only got adjusted in #DFCCIL in New Delhi itself, but he soon was shifted to #BarodaHouse in an important assignment. Honest be damned-welcome to new #IRTS-culture! And yes, this happened under zero tolerance #AshwiniVaishnaw sahab!
As we broke in “Worst that leaders can do is unethical and immoral conduct”, three #MOBD back-to-back are now tainted for #unethical-decisions which reek of quid-pro-quo and #immoral administrative decision making. We explained how by clever manoeuvring one MOBD got herself-self-selected in a #government employment after she retired, and also got her husband given a tax payer paid sinecure in a #PSU which is handling government’s flagship project of High Speed. This was achieved by making a certain IRTS officer as a director in the PSU by curtailing his #DRMship.
So cool, IRTS ethos of ethics be damned
This reminds one of the other dark phase of IRTS when an IRTS officer kept dual charge of Member Traffic (#MT) while being Chairman under UPA-II.
What is surprising officers is how come such back-to-back three #MOBDs under this government carry this scheme of self-promotion and benefiting each other. This leads to role of current MOBD who just blessed extending #largesse to several retired officers. Readers may recollect that #JayaVarmaSinha became #Member of #CAT shortly before her retirement. But then she was given #Ernakulum. She has turned this down, accordingly, #DoPT has put a three year #debarment on her.
It is surprising that she – Jaya Varma Sinha – has been given an advisorship by MD/#CRIS on 18 November despite her debarment. Why is #MOBD who is few days away from #retirement indulging in these brazen acts? What is in store for him. What would he choose for himself?
This only shows how compromised the Traffic Service Officers have become and what a spectacular fall of this Service! From being upholders of the interest of common citizen, the Service is now bursting at its seams with self-promoting, self-seeking, casteist and rank #corrupt members.
It is not out of place that as Services compete in being self-seeking and self-serving, #IRTS just lost to #IRAS, another of the parasitic civil services which distinguishes itself in 9 am to 5 pm officers with assured cut in every #Tender and #Proposal with no field responsibilities, being now more in demand by new recruits. This should serve as wake-up call that when seniors jostle for their post-retirement sinecures, they forgot what this Service once stood for.
RIP, #IRTS. You are no longer the #motive-power of #Railways, you are now the dead weight which is pulling down entire organisation-your three Members have been yet another nail on your coffin. You just lost moral right to exist as you are now indistinguishable from other #parasitic-services.
