Demand: Extension of Express/Special train services
Kanyakumari: There are so many passengers who travel through train from Tirunelveli to Thiruvananthapuram during morning and evening hours for various purposes. Principal travel destinations of the people of Kanyakumari district are Tirunelveli and Madurai.
Among them Tirunelveli is the most often visited place where the University, to which all the Colleges in their district are affiliated, the nearest Passport Office, the Higher Educational Institutions and many Government offices for southern Tamil Nadu are all located.
Due to non-availability of trains for most part of the day, passengers have the only option to take buses for their travel. Even the nearby Tirunelveli-Tiruchendur and Tirunelveli-Sengottai branch lines have 4 pairs of trains during the day, with convenient timings.
Demand for extension of following trains:
- Extension of 06641/06642 Tirunelveli – Nagercoil express special train to Kochuveli via Nagercoil Town.
- Extension of 06433/06428 Thiruvananthapuram – Nagercoil express special to Tirunelveli via Nagercoil Town.
Therefore, A. Charles, Secretary, Kulithurai Railway Commuters’ Association request to railway administration to take relevant and favourable action and implement it as early as possible.
