New Delhi (PTI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (#CBI) has closed the #Lokpal referred case of alleged #Corruption against former #CMD of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd #Satish_Agnihotri as no #evidence to #prosecute him was found during the #investigation, officials said.

Mr Agnihotri was appointed in 2021 as the managing director (#MD) of the National High Speed Railway Corporation Ltd (#NHSRCL), which is handling the government’s prestigious bullet train project, after his retirement from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (#RVNL). He was removed from the post in July 2022 after the #Lokpal ordered the #CBI probe against him.

The #CBI had registered an #FIR against him under #IPC sections related to criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The agency during its probe did not find any evidence to substantiate allegations against Mr Agnihotri, the officials said.

The case against Mr Agnihotri was registered on September 26, 2022 on the orders of Lokpal. In his submissions to Lokpal, he had given an exhaustive response terming the #allegations against him as motivated.

Mr Agnihotri in his detailed submissions said that the #complainant has started making these allegations against him after he was appointed the MD of NHSRCL.

The former officer alleged that the complainant is threatening him and his family members through #WhatsApp chats, etc.

“The Division Bench.. directs that the allegations made in the #complaint, in respect of RPS-1 be investigated so as to ascertain whether any offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act is made out,” the Lokpal had said in its order directing the CBI to conduct the probe and submit the report on or before December 12, 2022.
