इसके अलावा उन्होंने सोमवार, 12 जुलाई को सुबह जल्दी पहुंचकर रेलभवन की सभी मंजिलों का जो औचक निरीक्षण किया और वहां कार्यरत अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों को निर्धारित समय पर अपनी ड्यूटी और कार्य पर उपस्थित न पाकर जो नाराजगी जताई, उसका भी रेल व्यवस्था में एक गहरा संदेश गया है।
उन्होंने पदभार ग्रहण करने के पहले दिन ही रेलभवन में लोगों को मिलकर उन्हें उनके बीच का ही एक आदमी होने का जो आभास कराया, उसका भी एक बहुत सकारात्मक संदेश रेलकर्मियों और अधिकारियों में गया है।
इसके साथ ही उन्होंने वंदे भारत एक्सप्रेस (ट्रेन-18) का उत्पादन इसकी शुरुआती स्पेसिफिकेशन के आधार पर ही पुनः शुरू करने का आदेश देकर आईसीएफ के सभी कर्मियों और अधिकारियों को एक बड़ा संबल एवं प्रोत्साहन दिया है।

वास्तव में सबसे बड़ी और सबसे पहली आवश्यकता रेल की आंतरिक तथा प्रशासनिक व्यवस्था में सुधार करने की है। जब तक इसमें सुधार नहीं होगा, तब तक चीजों को सही रास्ते पर लाना शायद संभव नहीं होगा।
रेलमंत्री को चूंकि प्रशासन का पर्याप्त व्यक्तिगत अनुभव प्राप्त है। उन्होंने उड़ीसा में इस पर बहुत सफल कार्यान्वयन किया था। इसके बाद कारपोरेट क्षेत्र में भी उन्होंने अपना सफल प्रदर्शन किया। इसलिए उम्मीद है कि उनकी नजर व्यवस्था के हर कोने पर रहेगी और रेल की बिगड़ी व्यवस्था को सुधारने में वह अवश्य सफल होंगे।

Railway minister ASHWINI VAISHNAW (Former #IAS)
Business background: On completing MBA, Ashwini came back to India and joined GE Transportation as Managing Director. Then he joined Siemens as the Vice President – Locomotives & Head/Urban Infrastructure Strategy.
In 2012, he quit the corporate sector and set up Three Tee Auto Logistics Private Limited and Vee Gee Auto Components Private Limited, both automotive components manufacturing units in Gujarat.
Civil services background: Ashwani Vaishnaw served as a collector in Balasore and Cuttack districts. While a collector in Balasore district, National Human Rights Commission placed on record its appreciation of the sincerity, dedication and commitment displayed by Mr Vaishnaw in organizing and executing relief and rehabilitation work in his district at the time of heavy cyclone.
In 1999, Odisha was hit by a super cyclone that killed thousands of people. Before the super cyclone hit the state, Mr Vaishnav logged into a US Navy website to track the path of the cyclone. He tracked the cyclone every hour and sent a report to the chief secretary at regular intervals, which became a major source of information for the Odisha Government about the cyclone. This information helped State Government take necessary steps which saved many lives.
