Launching the girder of Mehakari Bridge on Ahmednagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath Broad Guage New Line in Central Railway
Ahmednagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath Broad Guage New Line is a vital lifeline on Central Railway which will provide connectivity between the Ahmednagar and Beed District of Maharashtra. This is a difficult terrain to work in.
Construction unit of Ahmednagar has begun, the Steel Girder Launching on one of the biggest bridges in Central Railway.
This bridge passes over the Mehakari River and hence called Mehakari Bridge.
It is located approximately 40 kilometers away from Ahmednagar.
This activity is part of the vision to provide rail connectivity to Beed district.
It is a 15 span bridge with each span length being 30.5 meters. Two cranes having a lifting capacity of 500 tonne and 400 tonnes was used.
The highlight of this bridge is the height upto which launching needed to be done which was 30 meters in this case.
It will take close to a month beginning today to complete the launching process.
During launching, all safety precautions and protocols pertaining to COVID-19 were adhered too.
