Rourkela station geared up for for FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup-2023

Kolkata: Rourkela Railway Station of South Eastern Railway has geared up to welcome the Hockey Stars from the different corners of the Globe who will be participating in FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup-2023.

The matches of this tournament will be held at Birsa Munda Stadium, Rourkela and Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

Rourkela Station of Chakradharpur Division has gone through a major facelift to support this spectacular event.

To facilitate the live telecast of the hockey matches for the travelling passengers, Giant Screen has been installed at the station with seating arrangements.

The stair case of the Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) and circulating area of the station has been painted on the theme of “Hockey” as a part of beautification of the station.

Special emphasis has been given on the aspect of cleanliness, anticipating the rush of spectators during the tournament.

Security of the station and the passing trains has also been strengthened to avoid any untoward incident.

Additional personnel of Railway Protection Force have been deployed and the team of ‘My Saheli’ have been instructed to keep an extra vigil for safety and security of the passengers.

Two pairs of Special Trains will run between Bhubaneswar-Rourkela – Bhubaneswar (10 Trips) and Puri – Rourkela-Puri (18 Trips) during the period from 14th to 31st January, 2023 for smooth commuting of the spectators.

A spectacular inaugural function of FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 was held at Barbati Stadium, Cuttack yesterday.

The tournament is going to be one of the most memorable global sporting event of India ever and South Eastern Railway is proud to be a part of it.

SER to run Hockey special trains between Bhubaneswar-Rourkela and Puri-Rourkela

To facilitate the Hockey enthusiasts and spectators, South Eastern Railway has decided to run two Hockey Special Trains between Bhubaneswar-Rourkela-Bhubaneswar and Puri-Rourkela-Puri in connection with the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023. 

• 02834 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Special will run every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday during the period from 14th to 30th January, 2023.

• 02833 Rourkela-Bhubaneswar Special will run every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday during the period from 15th to 31st January 2023.

• 02836 Puri-Rourkela Special will run daily during the period from 14th to 31st January, 2023.

• 02835 Rourkela-Puri Special will run daily during the period from 14th to 31st January, 2023.

02834/33 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela – Bhubaneswar Special

02834 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Special will leave Bhubaneswar at 20:25 hrs and will reach Rourkela at 03:40 hrs, the next day.

In the return direction, 02833 Rourkela-Bhubaneswar Special will leave Rourkela at 23:25 hrs and will reach Bhubaneswar at 07:45 hrs, the next day.

The Special will have one AC-2Tier, three AC-3 Tier, eight Sleeper Class and four General Second Class coaches and will stop at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Talcher Road, Angul, Rairakhol, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda and Rajgangpur.

02836/02835 Puri-Rourkela-Puri Special

02836 Puri-Rourkela Special will leave Puri at 05:15 hrs and will reach Rourkela at 12:45 hrs, the same day.

In the return direction, 02835 Rourkela-Puri Special will leave Rourkela at 13:30 hrs and will reach Puri at 22:30 hrs, the same day.

The Special will have two AC-3 Tier, three Sleeper Class and six General Second Class coaches and will stop at Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Naraj Marthapur, Dhenkanal, Talcher Road, Angul, Rairakhol, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda and Rajgangpur.
