Message of DG/Safety/Railway Board to all Zonal GMs
Dear General Managers,
There is a cause of concern in all Zones. Maintenance of points and crossings and shortcut practices used in shunting are contributing many yard derailments.
Also itтАЩs a busy work season. Lapses are occurring at work sites due to shortcuts.
Recently an error was committed while replacing point and xing and verification after work between site and panel was not done properly. It could have resulted in a major mishap.
Please ask all concerned officers in divisions to keep a close daily watch on work site supervisors and visit sites frequently.
Pace of work cannot be a reason for lapses. Urgent action is requested.
Work site protection is another important area of watch. Please issue Zonal drive for worksite safety monitoring.
Pls ensure compliance of all items.
Specially shunting in yards to be done with at most safety.
CLIs to counsel all Shunters and LPs for it.
Careless shunting operations is one of the causes for yard derailments.
All GMs pls review the asset failures on daily basis 30-35% trains are loosing punctuality due to asset failures.
Each failure must be analysed and action to be taken. Mobility must be improved further.

15 days drive launched yesterday, 13.01.2022 on the above issue. And the very same day a crucial derailment happened in Alipurduar Division, Northeast Frontier Railway.
